Swiss and French, the artist Louise Laffaille was born in 1988.
Her work aims to stirringly and truthfully reveal the beauty of water.
After her BA in visual art at ECAL, she received a training in Asian water color at the Art Student League of New York during 4 years and studied in Ronnie Landfield ‘studio, a master of colorfield movement.
Her series RAIN PAINTINGS and WAVES PAINTINGS, integrate the uncontrollable aspect of water in her creative process. Rain drops, sea waves, are marking themselves into her paintings, capturing both their beauty and mystery.
Fleurs d’eau, her latest work uses the natural movement of water absorbtion into the canvas fibers to create poetic landscape imagery, recreating the rythm and pace at which nature is formed. The canvas is kept off any gesso to recreate the uncontrolable aspect of water infiltration.
Her work has been shown in New York and Europe, recently at Galerie Telmah in Rouen, Galerie Univers Lausanne, Art 345 New York and at First Street Gallery where she won the National Jury Competition . In France she won the artist residency at the Castle of La Napoule where her work was exhibited .
